Volunteer
Inside ‘n’ Out Magzine offers ex-offenders who contribute to the organisation a volunteering opportunity during which they can add to their skills and experience in the workplace, as a first step towards the rehabilitative pathway of gaining employment.
Volunteers use their 1 or 2 hours per week at INO Mag to document their experiences and decide how best to use them as part of their own rehabilitation, as well as informing others.
Many ex-offenders who have taken the opportunity to use education as a way of serving their sentence, have gained new IT skills and the project will give them an opportunity to use them in a working environment. Support is given during volunteering sessions to gain new skills and an opportunity to attend training workshops is open to all.
By encouraging volunteers to disclose their conviction when seeking paid employment, the project also undertakes to provide a reference to potential employers regarding conduct, timekeeping and IT skills.
